Our Inquiry Process

Upon a new Principal arriving in January, 2021 we scanned staff and students to assess how we were doing and help determine our focus. It was clearly evident that building our school community / culture and Social Emotional Learning was a priority along with Indigenizing our curriculum. In order to build a strong community here at GME we decided to align the 4 Food Chiefs Indigenous perspective with the Leader in Me -- a whole-school transformational model that improves the performance of all school programs. School staff was initially trained in the Summer of 2021 with a trial implementation in the 2021-22 school year. Starting in September 2022 we began full implementation school wide of the Leader in Me. We also honed in on our foundational skills with grade groups developing goals using The 4 Disciplines of Execution framework. It was determined that the Primary grades wanted to focus on Phonological Awareness along with Reading fluency and accuracy. The Intermediate grades decided on a goal for building Math Number Sense and Computation. We will continue to revisit and track these goals throughout the school year.  We will also be looking at a school wide approach to improving Writing.

The purpose of the Learning Plan page is to synthesize the outcomes of each phase of inquiry from a school perspective. The following criteria for each phase have been provided below to guide the description of the work in each phase at your school.
